Walking with three people

I expect you have may have noticed by now how much I like Chinese proverbs. I think what fascinates me so much about them is the way they make you think and how often there is really no right or wrong interpretation. Here is one I heard the other day.

“If you take a walk with three people, one of them is your teacher”

We are either going forward or going backward in life and if we want to keep our forward momentum going then we have to be open to learning. Now you may think of two people you could take a walk with that could not teach you anything. Or could they? They may just teach you how not to do something. Who knows? Or you may be with someone who could teach you a lot. In which case it is important to keep your eyes and ears open. The more you use positive information the quicker and farther forward you will go in your life be it career, relationships or spirituality. By not paying attention you could be missing out on important information.
Perhaps the third person is also you – the part of you that chooses to learn and take responsibility for your future progress in life.
By looking outside of ourselves we can integrate positive and powerful changes into our lives. This can only help us keep progressing forward.
