Affirmations or questions?

Affirmations can be a powerful way to help guide us towards our goals. They can set up conscious and unconscious messages that put in place the mental programming we need to guide us toward our goals.
There is plenty of good material available about affirmations but something that isn’t written about so often is the value of asking questions. I have found that asking a question such as “what do I need to….” or “how do I……..” is a really powerful way of allowing our unconscious creative mind to come up with the information we need to move toward a solution. The beauty of this technique is that just by asking the question and then “forgetting about it” can take out a lot of the frustration and worry about solving a problem. Personally I like to write down my questions in my goals and affirmations book then read them before I go to sleep and leave my unconscious to come up with an answer. Give it a go – you may be pleasantly surprised.

useful emergency tip

This was sent to me and other members of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis by a colleague. Hope you don’t need it but you never know – it could be useful

:Subject: Recognising a stroke.

Important information for everyone – will only take a minute to read but may save a life…

During a BBQ a friend stumbled and took a little fall – she assured
everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food – while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital – (at 6:00 pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ – had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

It only takes a minute to read this:

RECOGNISING A STROKE

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can reverse the effects of a stroke… totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and getting to the patient within 3 hours, which is tough.

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.

Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

1. Ask the individual to SMILE.

2. Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

3. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today)

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call paramedics

immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions.

Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Ask a Question

Here is something to add to your goals book – asking a question. If I ask you a question now, such as what is the weather like outside, you will automatically start searching for an answer.You may have already looked out of the window to find out. Our mind is programmed to instinctively answer a question so why not use this ability to help drive your goals.
In my goals book I have a section where I specifically ask questions. Asking a question gets us searching for an answer even whan we are not even thinking about it. I just quickly scan my questions last thing at night then leave my unconscious mind to help me find an answer. Try it – it really works. whatever you need to improve, your business, your life, your relationships etc. just write it down as a question and you may be surprised at how quickly an answer may pop up.
